Professor Satyanarayanan Chakravarthy—fondly known as Prof. Satya—is a pioneering academic, innovator, and
entrepreneur at the forefront of India’s new-age aerospace and urban mobility revolution. A Professor in the
Department of Aerospace Engineering at IIT Madras, he brings over two decades of research expertise in
combustion, propulsion, and aerospace systems.
As the Founder and CEO of The ePlane Company, Prof. Satya is building India’s first electric flying taxi with
a mission to make urban aerial mobility accessible, efficient, and sustainable. Under his leadership, The
ePlane Company has emerged as one of the most promising deeptech startups in the country, capturing global
attention for its work in electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.
In 2023, he extended his vision to the agricultural sector through Amber Wings, a subsidiary focused on
drone-based precision farming solutions. Their flagship innovation, ‘Vihaa’, is India’s most compact and
efficient agri-drone aimed at transforming the future of farm operations.
