Gopi Sankar, is currently leading the New Energy and Safety transformation at Ashok Leyland. New Energy transformation includes development of commercial vehicles powered by Natural gas, Hydrogen and Electric. In Safety, integration of ADAS and Autonomous features as applicable to commercial vehicles.
Earlier, he was the Chief Engineer of the entire Ashok Leyland MHCV segment from 16Tons to 55Tons and delivered the successful AVTR platform along with BS6 migration. AVTR is India’s First platform built on an innovative Modular vehicle architecture involving multiple powertrain-cab-chassis options and providing configurable vehicle variants as per customer requirements.
Prior to AVTR, Gopi had led Ashok Leyland successful foray into light commercial vehicle segment as Chief Engineer of thesuccessful “Dost” and “Partner” platforms , developed in collaboration with Nissan in India.
